SPRING 2020 FOREST SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Let your love of children and nature become your new career! Join our incredible Forest School Association endorsed trainers from Huathe Forest School in England, as they “cross the pond” to provide us with our second USA-based Forest School Leadership training, right here in New York!

Location: CEED in Brookhaven, NY

Ages: 18+

Dates: April 10-18, 2020 (with an off day on Friday, April 17) from approx. 8:30-5:00pm

This intensive course, based on the highly successful Scandinavian Forest School model will be a mix of theory and practical actions and skills and will begin your 200 hour accredited course ensuring your ability to lead a forest school.

-Practical skills include: knots, fire lighting, rope bridges, swings, storytelling, singing, tool work and more. All skills will be taught to support the safety of children and with their needs in mind.

– The creation of a comprehensive handbook to utilize with staff, schools and caregivers

– A customized 6-week pilot program that will be assessed for final completion of the leadership-training course

– Additional digital training support provided for up to a year after training dates

-Completion of this training course will provide you with a certificate of completion and 18 credits with the Open College Network. You will also be certified as a Forest School Association endorsed Forest School Leader

Carol Middleton and Elizabeth Swift are the co-founders of Huathe Forest School and are qualified as Forest School leaders and the Forest School Association endorses their Forest School training.  They are also University lecturers, teachers and Early Years Professionals and experienced in mentoring and nature connection learning with over 30 years of experience. 

Alongside Forest School training and delivery, Carol and Elizabeth lecture on Early Years best practices at degree level and speak regularly at conferences and workshops around the world.  They are recipients of the prestigious TACTYC (Training, Advancement and Co-operation in Teaching Young Children) award for their work using Forest School to support children transitions in school.
